Is Hope for Our Planet’s Health on Life Support?
Those of us who watched the world’s leaders negotiating climate deals at COP27 in 2022 may have felt their hopes sink. Most nation states were less than fully committed to limiting our planet’s warming to 1.5℃.
But before we sink into despair and depression at the doom and gloom messages in our news feeds, let’s consider the positive signs of change in international climate policy. Even as the big polluter nations deal with crises in economics and energy, fuelled by the war in Ukraine, they recognise that climate action is central to economic health.
The following article, published in The Conversation, lays out the case for reasonable hope that a tipping point has been reached, and our planet may still, even if battered and bruised, take a sustainable turn for the better.
